For Event Hosts

Thanks for volunteering to host a #drinkingaboutmuseums for your time zone. The reason this movement continues is because of the willingness of the community to pitch in! You’re the best and we appreciate you all!

BEFORE YOUR EVENT

We are asking each host to broadcast info about the whole global event to their networks, and to have posted a URL to log into the conference on at drinkingaboutmuseums.com. So, tell your friends!

DURING YOUR EVENT

For the event, we are hoping people show up and have a good old time with friends new and old. Though it’s in the name, “drinking” is obviously not necessary, nor the point. The point is fellowship, solidarity, and support as we all try to live through these historic upheavals. As our heroes Bill and Ted once said, “Be excellent to each other!”

There is no official program, though if you want some suggestions on conversation starters, here are some questions you might consider asking:

  • Who are you, and what do you do?
  • Where are you? Who else is there with you? (People love to see pets and babies it seems!)
  • How has your life and work changed since the start of the Coronavirus pandemic?
  • What does your day look like for you now? How has it changed?
  • What questions has this experience created for you about the sector going forward?

Please let the world what you’re up to by live tweeting, sharing screenshots, and any wisdom you’ve picked up, using the #drinkingaboutmuseums hashtag.

When your hour is over, please announce the URL for an event in the next time zone. If you want to keep socializing, by all means do so! Invite people to go to the next party or stay as they wish. We at DAM HQ will also be posting the URL of events as they begin.

AFTER YOUR EVENT

Let the world know when you wrap up your event, post any great thoughts or pictures you took, and know we appreciate you and your willingness to bring people together!

You are now officially a #DAMAllStar!
